DuPage County reports 366 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, no deaths, region's positivity rate remains at 9.6%

The DuPage County Health Department on Thursday reported 366 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, with no deaths.

The county now has seen a total of 22,977 coronavirus cases including 607 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of October 6 was 96.0%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen five days of positivity increases and nine days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate remained flat at 9.6%. Currently, 25% of medical/surgical beds are available and 44% of ICU beds.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported a single-day state record 6,363 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 56 additional deaths Thursday, as hospitalizations continued to climb back to early June levels.

By town, Wheaton has had 1,017 total cases, Glen Ellyn 803, Lombard 1,139, Villa Park 672, Hinsdale 414, Westmont 676, Darien 428, Downers Grove 972, Elmhurst 1,183, Warrenville 341 and Winfield 219. Addison has had 1,649 confirmed cases, Naperville 1,751, Carol Stream 1,254 and West Chicago 1,422.

The health department provides further information on its data dashboard for COVID-19-related hospitalizations, deaths, lab positivity and outbreak-associated counts by municipality. This additional information replaces the information that was previously provided daily in this format.
