The DuPage County Health Department on Tuesday reported 279 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, with two deaths, a woman in her 70s and a man in his 70s.
The county now has seen a total of 21,120 coronavirus cases including 599 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of October 6 was 96.0%.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 10 days of positivity increases – meeting one criteria for stricter mitigation measures – and five days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate increased from 8.5% to 9.0%. Currently, 34% of medical/surgical beds and 44% of ICU beds are available.
The Kane/DuPage region hit the state's fail-safe of 8% positive in its seven-day rolling average for the third day in a row. The region is now subject to enhanced mitigations, which in previous regions have included closing indoor dining and bar service.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,714 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 41 additional deaths Tuesday.
By town, Wheaton has had 902 total cases, Glen Ellyn 715, Lombard 1,029, Villa Park 616, Hinsdale 395, Westmont 644, Darien 394, Downers Grove 899, Elmhurst 1,117, Warrenville 308 and Winfield 188. Addison has had 1,503 confirmed cases, Naperville 1,568, Carol Stream 1,144 and West Chicago 1,320.
