The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases within DuPage County since March has reached 15,000 and now stands at 15,055 as of Friday, according to officials.
The DuPage County Health Department on Friday reported 230 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, with no deaths.
County officials confirmed that the high number reported Friday is due to the testing backlog from the Illinois Department of Public Health, which had resulted in three days worth of only partial public data being reported. The backlog has been fixed and it resulted in a single-day data dump of almost 150,000 tests reported.
The county now has seen a total of 15,055 coronavirus cases including 536 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Sept.1 was 95.0 percent.
IDPH reported 5,368 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 from 149,273 tests and 29 additional deaths Friday.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen four days of positivity increases and three days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate decreased to 6.1%. Currently, 31 percent of medical/surgical beds are available and 45 percent of ICU beds.
