District 99 French students earn recognition

DOWNERS GROVE - Several Community High School District 99 students took the optional National French Contest “Le Grand Concours” and 35 earned recognition for their performance.

Downers Grove North students who received recognition are:

French II Silver Medal: Sarah Jeske

French II Bronze Medal: Tabitha Irvin

French II Honorable Mention: Stephen Cecil, Abigail France, Sreeja Nallamala, Vona Balaoing,Carolyn-Paige Breit, Katherine Cesario, Emily Hernandez 

French IV Silver Medal: Noah Pardue 

French IV Bronze Medal: Edith Barlin, Alison Dry, Grace McTigue

French IV Honorable Mention: Josh LeBlanc, Molly Doherty, Alexa Moy, Annelise Richardson, Paige Sadler, Heather Ramsey 

French V Bronze Medal: Belle Blanchard 

French V Gold Medal: Ella Dennis

“Congratulations to our students for their commitment to the French language,” North High French Teacher Kelly Houlihan said. “Their hard work has paid off, especially as they are recognized amongst top French students in the country.”

“Despite the school shutdown, the students stayed motivated to participate in the contest from home.” South High French Teacher Sophia Reuillon said. “I am incredibly proud of these students for taking the initiative to compete in this contest with French students nationwide.”
