DOWNERS GROVE - Following newly released guidelines established in the Restore Illinois Plan, the Downers Grove Park District has decided to cancel the 2020 summer concerts held at Fishel Park.
But the park district will present a virtual summer concert series featuring seven live-streamed concerts hosted on Facebook at 7 p.m. every other Tuesday from May 26 to Aug. 18. Follow the Downers Grove Park District and watch the concerts on Facebook at @DownersGroveParks.
"The Downers Grove Park District’s Summer Concert Series continues to grow as a summer staple in the community," said Darby Beasley, the district's community events and sponsorship specialist. "In 2019, we welcomed over 22,000 attendees to enjoy live music at Fishel Park. Although we cannot hold the concerts in person at the park this summer, we felt it was important to provide a memorable experience for families to enjoy at home during this challenging time."
Virtual Summer Concert Series Lineup:
• May 26: The Wayouts - 1960s garage rock
• June 9: Ethan Bell Band - Country
• June 23: Rosie & the Rivets - Oldies/Rockabilly
• July 7: Good Clean Fun - Pop
• July 21: Dancing Queen - ABBA tribute
• Aug. 4: Sushi Roll - Pop/Cover
• Aug. 18: JK & The Jam - Pop
On May 26, The Wayouts will make a donation to Downers Grove Area FISH Food Pantry and Community Services to assist those in need during this challenging time. If residents would like to join the band in also making a donation, visit www.downersgrovefish.org.
