Lemont offers information, resources to residents

Lemont leaders, including Mayor John Egofske, issued the following letter to residents, which includes a significant amount of information regarding village, school district, township, library, park district, and police and fire services currently available and as well as links to websites and Facebooks pages where residents can find additional resources.

LEMONT - As the village of Lemont partners continue to work together for the entire community, we want our Lemont residents and businesses to know how appreciative we are for the steps you have taken to control the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.

This is territory not yet traveled, and we have had to make hard decisions in the best interest of the health and safety of our residents and community. Our collective goal is to continue to provide essential functions and services to the community as we address the impacts to our residents, families, employees, first responders, students, seniors and businesses.

Our business community has been hit hard, and the support residents have shown to the restaurants with take out orders has been phenomenal. They are struggling and the need continues to order food and beverages from them to help them during this difficult time. For updated information on open businesses, visit:

Many of our residents and seniors are facing hardships as well. The need for food and care package items is growing by the day. If you are able, please support the food pantries and organizations that are taking food, personal items and monetary donations for our families in need. It is important that everyone stay informed during this time. Each partner has different means of communicating to residents and it is vital that we stay connected.

Village of Lemont

• Essential services will continue to be provided.

• Waste Management currently is not taking bulk items or loose items outside of containers. Sign up to receive updates -

• Village facilities are partially opened. Vestibules are open for bill paying and plan drop-off. No cash is being taken at this time.

• The police department will be responding to high priority emergency calls. Low priority calls will be handled by telephone. Call 911 or our non-emergency number at 630-257-2226.

• Lemont- Bromberek School District 113A and Lemont High School District 210 both are making efforts to serve as a resource for their students and their families during this time of uncertainty.

• Each are continuing to provide meals to families in need, and will maintain that commitment during Spring Break (March 30 to April 3).

• Each are maintaining open lines of communication with their students and families, as well as their respective employees, including providing updates based on directives from Governor JB Pritzker.

• Each are continuing to provide learning opportunities for their students, and will do so as long as schools are required to be closed.

Lemont Fire Protection District

Operations will continue as normal. No public education classes are being held. Entrance for visitors is limited to the foyer area of the New Avenue station. For updates visit,

Lemont Township

• Lemont Township services will be available via telephone and internet. All buildings are closed to the public. Call 630-257-2522 and leave a message.

• Senior meals will be delivered to homes. Contact Lemont Township to arrange for delivery.

• Food and personal items for food pantry recipients can be dropped off in Lemont Township’s vestibule 24/7 at 1115 Warner Ave.

• Lemont Township dial-a-ride is suspended.

Lemont Park District

• Lemont Park District buildings remain closed to the public.

• Playgrounds are closed to the public. Open space and trails remain open. Parks staff continues to monitor parks and buildings.

• Staff continues to work remotely and has launched a variety of activities and programs online.

• The Quarryman Race has been postponed to Nov. 7. Visit

• Library is currently closed to the public through April 7, 2020.

• Book drop is currently closed. Materials will not be due until May 1. No fines or fees will be imposed until the closure is over.

• Virtual Reference 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Virtual offerings and database resources for both adults and youth.

• Register online for a temporary library card.

• A Reading at a Distance program is available which features prizes from local businesses. Visit for details and information.

Heritage Corridor Business Alliance

• The HCBA continues to work with the village in support of our businesses. Many restaurants are open for carryout and delivery.
