DOWNERS GROVE - The Downers Grove Public Library will be closed temporarily beginning at 9 p.m. March 13 with a anticipated reopening on April 6 in COVID-19 prevention efforts.
All programs and meetings have been canceled until further notice. This decision follows ongoing conversations with village leaders, according to library news release.
“Closing the library is an extraordinarily difficult decision that we have made only because of these extraordinary circumstances," according to the release. "The health and safety of ourpatrons and staff is our first priority. Early actions to increase social distancing are the best way to contain the spread of COVID-19, according to the CDC. The library feels this is the best way to protect our community."
All materials will have a due date of May 1. Until then, all book drops will be closed. Don’t return anything while the library is closed.
Patrons can continue to use the library without visiting by downloading ebooks; listening to downloadable and streaming audiobooks; streaming movies and TV shows; streaming music; reading digital comics, newspapers and magazines and taking online classes; Visit www.dglibrary.org elibrary for information.
