More than 1 million Americans have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease that occurs when a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, the hormone that controls blood-sugar levels.
That includes about 200,000 people who are younger than 20 years old. Andrew Bordoni, of St. Charles-based Andrew Bordoni Music, knows the struggles that young people face as several of his students have Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes.
To raise funds to fight the disease, Andrew Bordoni Music and Guerrini Music Productions will present Rocking for a Cure 2019 – Ride Into The Danger Zone at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26 to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The event will be held at the Illinois Aviation Academy at DuPage Airport, 32W751 Tower Road, West Chicago. Tickets are available at musicwithheart.org.
