[The steak and cheese dish features ribeye, mushrooms, mozzarella, arugula and A1 aioli on a brioche bun, accompanied by hand-cut french fries.]
The place was decked out for the holidays with wreaths and ribbons, Christmas lights and ornaments, making for a delightful display.
Our server was wonderful and recommended a variety of menu items, including the wood-fired pizzas, the burgers and the cauliflower bites, which are a small plate item that she said "are to die for." Their cauliflower bites dish includes Parmesan, cherry peppers, parsley, garlic and black pepper aioli or the other option of buffalo sauce, blue cheese crumbles and ranch dip.
Poring over the menu, we decided to go with a dish we both love for an appetizer: calamari. Pierce Tavern's take on calamari was something we found unusual – and amazing.
Instead of the spicy tomato sauce, remoulade and lemon flavors we usually have it with when we order it at a restaurant, Pierce Tavern offers its calamari with fried basil, sweet chili drizzle and sambal mayo in addition to lemon. Simply put, it had similar flavors but much more of a kick. The calamari was cooked with finesse and was a bit spicy.
