West Chicago to host Frosty Fest and 5K

West Chicago festival planned for Dec. 1

WEST CHICAGO – Fun-filled holiday traditions take center stage at West Chicago’s annual Frosty Fest, which this year takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1 in downtown West Chicago.

At 4 p.m., the Frosty Procession steps off, heading west down Main Street to Route 59. It is followed by the city’s official tree-lighting ceremony.

From 4:30 to 7 p.m. there will be caroling, dance performances, activities, holiday displays and refreshments – both outdoors and indoors.

The Iceless Curling Rink will be offered along Main Street. Free to play, it accommodates two to four players at a time for a chance to slide their stones closest to the target.

The Cookies w/flavor food truck will offer sweets, treats and hot beverages for purchase.

Visit Gallery 200, 103 W. Washington St., for the “Small Gifts of Art” exhibit, sales, activities and musical performances.

Republic Bank, 101 Main St., will be a hot spot, with free hot cocoa, popcorn and snacks, plus a candy cottage display sponsored by First United Methodist Church.

The City Museum, 132 Main St., will host exhibits, activities and crafting.

The American Legion, 123 Main St., will offer crafts, as well as cookie decorating and dance performances by District 33’s Ballet Folklorico.

Festivalgoers can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Fox Community Center, 306 Main St., and enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, outdoor games and activities, live ice sculpture carving, and caroling by local student groups.

There will be caroling by the First United Methodist Church Choir throughout the downtown.

Get started early with the Frosty 5K and Kids Fun Run on Dec. 1.
