WHEATON – Accomplished musicians and choristers will perform the Christmas portion of Handel's "Messiah" and Bach's "Magnificat," when Camerata Chicago presents its Sacred Music Series at 3 p.m. Nov. 3 at College Church in Wheaton.
Camerata Chicago, celebrating the 15th anniversary of its founding by Maestro Drostan Hall, also will present the concert in Chicago.
"We have a small, virtuoso nimble choir," Hall said of the two dozen artists in the year-old vocal ensemble. "They come from the top choruses – Lyric Opera of Chicago … Music of the Baroque."
In a casting twist for the Handel oratorio, which will treat audiences to the "Hallelujah" chorus among the selections, Hall has selected boy soprano Matteo Warren to sing the part of the angel who appears to the shepherds.
