DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove South High School will celebrate homecoming with a variety of festivities culminating with a parade and football game Sept. 21.
Homecoming activities included a distinguished alumni ceremony Sept. 20 in the front foyer of the school's main entrance.
The alumni awards program recognizes Downers Grove South alumni who have made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments, affiliations and careers have honored the legacy of excellence at the high school.
The 2018 distinguished alumni honorees include Maudlyne Ihejirika, Chicago journalist, class of 1981; Amy Liss, motivational speaker and volunteer, class of 2001; Dr. Robert Roose, physician leader, class of 1997; Dr. Samir Soneji, Air Force captain and public health researcher, class of 1994; and Navy Capt. Nicholas Tilbrook, class of 1988.
The homecoming parade will be at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 21. The parade will proceed south on Springside Avenue, east on Bolson Drive and north on Dunham Road. The football game against Addison Trail High School will be at 7:30 p.m. The sophomore game begins at 5 p.m.
Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for students. Seniors 65 and older and Community High School District 99 students with an ID are free.
