LA GRANGE – La Grange residents can learn how to get involved with local elections at the Citizens' Council of La Grange's election season kickoff meeting Sept. 12.
At the meeting, the council will discuss how citizens can become members and participate in the autumn evaluation and slating of candidates who would like to be elected to La Grange offices in April 2019, according to a council news release.
The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at La Grange Village Hall, 53 S. La Grange Road, La Grange.
The Citizens’ Council, founded in 1941, is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization run by volunteers that seeks, evaluates and recommends candidates for local office in the village, the release stated. Its primary focus is to find the best qualified candidates for the village of La Grange, La Grange Public Library Board of Trustees and Park District of La Grange Board of Commissioners.
The council also strives to keep residents informed on key issues in local government, according to the release.
