Mud and Char also offers some unique breakfast selections, including power bowls and breakfast boxes. The berry good power bowl, for example, features bananas, beet powder and yogurt while the chocolate nut butter bowl includes bananas, cocoa powder, peanut butter and almond milk.
There are four varied choices when it comes to the breakfast boxes. The classic, for example, features a hard-boiled egg, avocado, quinoa, salad, feta cheese and bread. The country box, meanwhile, includes a hard-boiled egg, ham, turkey, cheddar cheese, fruit and bread.
The mezza box reflects Sara Funk's Lebanese background and includes pita, cucumber, za'atar spice, mint and labneh, which is similar to cream cheese.
Offering the power bowls and breakfast boxes is part of Mud and Char’s initiative to carve out a competitive advantage.
“These are items the chains don’t have,” John Funk said.
