At Kimmer's Ice Cream, a few doors down from Graham's at 109 E. Front St., business continues to be brisk despite the project.
"Summer has been really busy for us," said Kimmer's Ice Cream Chief Operating Officer Isaac Yates, who owns the shop with his wife, Kimberly Yates, who is the shop's namesake. "Most of the work is done during the day, and we're busiest in the evening time. I know at times it was tougher for customers to park every once in a while. Luckily for us, if people want ice cream, they're still going to come out for ice cream."
He complimented city officials and the Downtown Wheaton Association on keeping downtown business owners informed about the project, such as when roads would be closed.
"That really helped out, and we could at least convey that to customers and let them know if this block was going to be shut down or anything like that," Yates said. "Communication has been awesome."
