Hundreds gather in Edman Memorial Chapel during memorial service
WHEATON – Following his graduation from Wheaton College in 1943, Billy Graham made it his mission to spread the gospel around the world.
"It would be his calling to take the gospel as far around the globe as modern communications would allow," Wheaton College Chaplain Emeritus Stephen Kellough told those gathered in the college's Edman Memorial Chapel for a memorial service March 2 to celebrate the life of the famed evangelist.
Graham, a 1943 anthropology graduate of Wheaton College, died Feb. 21 at age 99. Those who attended the memorial service also were able to watch a live stream of Graham's funeral in Charlotte, N.C.
During his time at Wheaton College, Graham met his future wife, fellow student Ruth Bell. They married after graduating in 1943 and began their life of ministry together.
