ELMHURST – The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning calling for the possibility of 8 to 14 inches of snow through the morning of Feb. 10, with localized higher amounts, according to a city of Elmhurst news release.
Limited visibilities and blowing snow may impact travel, and residents are asked to use caution while driving, the release stated. City snow removal crews will be working around the clock to clean and maintain city streets.
Because of the anticipated weather conditions, normal Friday refuse service will be delayed until Saturday, according to a Feb. 8 email from Elmhurst Communications Manager Kassondra Schref.
Residents can assist city crews by keeping fire hydrants free of snow piles and not blowing or shoveling snow onto city streets, according to the release.
Residents are asked not to park on city streets for eight hours following a snowfall of at least 2 inches, the release stated. The Elmhurst Police Department will not allow for any overnight street parking on Feb. 8 and 9.
