LA GRANGE PARK – La Grange Park native Chrissy Braun has known since she was in high school that she wanted to become a veterinarian and practice at CatNap from the Heart, the local nonprofit animal shelter where she began volunteering at age 15.
In June, Braun’s dream came true when she was hired to be the first full-time veterinarian at the shelter’s new low-cost spay/neuter clinic. The shelter specializes in the adoption of cats, birds and other small mammals.
“I love that I can make a difference every day and have a positive impact on animals and people,” she said. “Working here, I get to help the neediest animals and take in strays that wouldn’t have anywhere else to go. I’ve known for quite a while that I wanted to be a practicing vet here to help homeless animals in my community.”
