WILMINGTON – A high school football fan allegedly made alarming threats to the team recently.
Wilmington Police Chief Phillip Arnold said Charles T. Janulis, 49, approached school administrators following a Sept. 16 game at Wilmington High School and criticized how the team was being managed.
"During the conversation [Janulis] made a reference that involved blowing up the team, which alarmed the staff," Arnold said. "They contacted an officer at the game, but [Janulis] had already left."
Police later interviewed Janulis at his home in the 700 block of Fulton Street in Wilmington and submitted a report to the Will County State's Attorney's Office, Arnold said. On Friday, Janulis was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and threatening a school.
"In this day and age, you just can't say anything like that," Arnold said. "We're going to take the safety of our kids and our schools very seriously."
