DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove police have confirmed there is a current investigation in which former Ill. State Rep. Ron Sandack is a potential victim.
The longtime Downers Grove elected official surprised the political world July 24 by announcing he was abruptly resigning his spot in the General Assembly and in November's upcoming election.
In a statement given to news outlet Capitol Fax, Sandack cited "cybersecurity issues" as a driver of his decision, though has not responded to requests for comment from Suburban Life. Sandack was known as a prolific user of social media, but recently deleted both his Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Downers Grove police confirmed there is an ongoing investigation involving the attorney, with Sandack as the potential victim. Suburban Life has submitted a Freedom of Information Act request for any further police report information.
The DuPage and Will County GOP organizations are expected to make an announcement on Sandack's replacements in the current assembly and the November ballot by next week.
