WOODSTOCK – Misdemeanor domestic battery charges against a Barrington Hills police officer have been dropped, his attorney says.
Gary A. Deutschle, 40, of Algonquin was charged with two counts of domestic battery in September, accused of closing a door on his wife and injuring her wrist.
Both charges were dropped on Nov. 7. His defense attorney George Kililis said Deutschle voluntarily sought treatment.
"It was not a crime," Kililis said. "It was a bad moment between the two of them. Arguing got the better of them."
Deutschle was placed on administrative leave from Barrington Hills Police Department shortly after his arrest in September.
A woman who answered the phone at the police station said no one would be available for comment on Deutschle's employment status. A message left for the deputy chief was not returned.
