LYONS – Hate those red light cameras at Ogden and First avenues in Lyons?
Well, they are soon to be gone.
Both red light cameras on First Avenue in Lyons – at 44th Street and First Avenue and at First and Ogden avenues – will soon be removed. Both intersections are being reconfigured by the Illinois Department of Transportation and the cameras will be discontinued.
Red light cameras are prohibited from reconfigured intersections for two years after, according to the village.
Lyons Mayor Chris Getty said he has no plans to restore them or to move them to another intersection in the village.
Both camera were deactivated on Dec. 31, but Lyons officials said they may take up to 60 days to be fully removed.
