Downers Grove

Store damaged

Police said Marshalls department store, 1220 75th St., was vandalized at 9:15 a.m. July 28. Police said there was black spray painted graffiti on the rear of the business, causing $100 in damage.

Bicycle reported missing

Police said a bicycle was reported missing from the Main Street train depot, 1000 Burlington Ave., between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. July 30. Police said the bike’s cable lock was cut. The bike is a Red Trek 820 with custom silver “Kona” peddles. The loss is estimated at $365.

Car burglarized

Police said a car parked in the 4700 block of Lee Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. July 30 and 9 a.m. Aug. 3. Police said a navigation system was missing. The loss is estimated at $229.

Business vandalized

Police said Pepperidge Farm, 230 Second St., was vandalized between 2 p.m. July 29 and 9:30 a.m. July 31. Police said the southwest cement corner of the building was spray painted. Damage is estimated at $50.

Music players missing

Police said two music players were reported missing from a picnic area at McCollum Park, 6801 Main St., at about 6:15 p.m. July 31. Police said an iPod and another MP3 player were missing. The loss is estimated at $380.

Car burglarized

Police said a car parked in the 6500 block of Berrywood Lane was moved and burglarized between 10 p.m. July 31 and 7:45 a.m. Aug. 1.

Police said the car was moved from a driveway into the street. Police said the front passenger side window was partially down and there was a crack in the sunroof. Police said a car stereo and a cycling glove were missing. The loss is estimated at $505.

Bag missing

Police said a black cloth Dominick’s bag was taken from outside the Belmont Road train depot, 5000 Belmont Road, between 9:45 and 11:30 a.m. July 30. Police said the bag contained a wallet and money. The loss is estimated at $125.

Park vandalized

Police said items at Concord Park, 1632 Concord Drive, were vandalized between 9 p.m. Aug. 1 and 8 a.m. Aug. 2.

Police said a bench, garbage can, portable toilet and a tree were all spray painted. Police said it also appeared that someone tried to set the portable toilet on fire. The damage is estimated at $1,526.

Mailbox damaged

Police said a mailbox in the 1900 block of Oxnard Drive was vandalized with white spray paint  between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 1 and 10 a.m. Aug. 2. The damage is estimated at $100.

Man charged with DUI

A man was charged with drunken driving after being arrested at 3 a.m. Aug. 2 in the 4600 block of Oakwood Avenue.

Police said Jason A. Glabus, 29, Lombard was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed.

GPS taken from car

Police said a car parked in the 800 block of Bonnie Brae Drive was burglarized between 8 and 11 a.m. Aug. 2. Police said a navigation system was reported missing. The loss is estimated at $600.

Cars burglarized

Police said a car was burglarized in the 4100 block of Lindley Street between 8:30 p.m. Aug. 2 and 6:45 a.m. Aug. 3. Police said a radar detector and two bottles of medicine were reported missing. The loss is estimated at $105.

Police said a car parked in the 4200 block of Lindley Street was burglarized between midnight and 1:30 a.m. Aug. 3. Police said $2,600 in compact discs and a bottle of cologne were missing.

GPS removed from car

Police said a car parked in the 5700 block of Springside Avenue was burglarized between 7 p.m. Aug. 2 and 7 a.m. Aug. 3. Police said a navigation system was missing from the car. The loss is estimated at $500.

Wallet, phone stolen

Police said a car parked in the lot at the Jahovah’s Witnesses hall, 1710 Herbert St., was burglarized between 9 a.m. and noon Aug. 3. Police said items missing from the car include a wallet and phone. The loss is estimated at $131.

Man charged with theft

Police said a man attempted to steal bottles of alcohol from Westbrook Market, 2065 63rd St., at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 4.

Police said Paul D. Ferguson, 59, of Joliet was seen putting two bottles of alcohol down his pants and leave the store without paying. Ferguson was charged with retail theft.

Westmont

GPS unit taken

Police said a navigation system, valued at $250, was reported stolen from a car overnight Aug. 5 in the 200 block of Deming Place. The vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft, police said.

Chimney burner stolen

Police said a cast iron pot belly chimney burner, valued at $60, was reported stolen from a residence overnight Aug. 5 in the 800 block of Franklin St.

Windows, tires damaged

Police said all four tires were slashed and car windows were broken overnight  Aug. 3  on a vehicle  in the 6700 block of South Lake Shore Drive. Damage is estimated at $1,200, police said.

Domestic battery alleged

Robert V. Fernandez, 35, of Westmont was charged with domestic battery after he allegedly struck a person at about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 3 in the 0 to 100 block of West Burlington Street, police said.

Man faces DUI charge

Brian A. Nystrom, 33, 146 White Fawn Trail, Downers Grove was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying a stop sign after he was pulled over at about 12:45 a.m. Aug. 1 near the area of Williamsport Drive and Williams Street, police said.

Cab fare left unpaid

Police said a cab driver reported a man  ran away from the car without paying for a $37 cab ride. The incident occurred at about 4 a.m. July 31 in the 800 block of S. Williams Street, police said.

Woodridge

Items stolen from car

Police said a purse, multiple credit cards and two pieces of jewelry, valued at $1,000, were removed from a car between 11 p.m. Aug. 3 and 8 a.m. Aug. 4 in the 6500 block of Middlecoff Court, police said.

Fencing vandalized

Fencing was spray-painted with graffiti at about 8:15 a.m. Aug. 3 in Echo Point Park, 8115 Woodridge Drive, police said.

DUIs charged

Jayal Amin, 31, of Morton Grove was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about 11:15 p.m. Aug. 1 in the 8000 block of Greene Road, police said.

Brian Woods, 38, of Kankakee was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, attempted obstruction of justice, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license and speeding. He was arrested at about 7:45 p.m. Aug. 1 at the intersection of Everglade Avenue and Route 53, police said.

Russell Kmen, 20, of Bolingbrook was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after being arrested at about 3:45 a.m. Aug. 1 at the intersection of Everglade Avenue and Route 53, police said.

Brian Holley, 46, of Naperville was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after being pulled over at about 9 p.m. Aug. 28 in the 7400 block of Route 53, police said.

Bicycle reported stolen

A bike was stolen at about 6:15 p.m. July 31 in the 7200 block of Woodward Avenue, police said.

Car window shattered

Police said the rear driver’s side window of a car was shattered between about 5:45 and 6:45 p.m. July 29 in the 2800 block of Everglade Avenue, police said.
