Downers Grove
Van reported burglarized
Police said a work van was burglarized between 9 p.m. Aug. 10 and 7 a.m. Aug. 11 while parked at the Extended Stay hotel, 3150 Finley Road. Police said tools valued at $1,700 were missing from the van.

Burglary attempted
Police said it appears someone tried to force entry into a home between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Aug. 11 in the 5600 block of Carpenter Street.

Police said a door frame of the home was badly damaged, but nothing was missing or disturbed inside. The damage is estimated at $200.

Truck reported burglarized
Police said a truck was burglarized between noon and 1:45 p.m. Aug. 14 near Haddow Avenue and Belmont Road. Police said a chop saw was missing. The loss is estimated at $500.

Car reported damaged
Police said a car was damaged between 6 and 11:30 p.m. Aug. 14 in the 6900 block of Fairmount Avenue. The car door was damaged, and the car had scratches and dents on it, police said. Damage is estimated at $500.

Woman charged with DUI
A woman was charged with drunken driving after being arrested at about 3 a.m. Aug. 15 at Fairview and Ogden avenues.

Police said Erin E. Mazurwski, 30, 2415 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove was charged with driving under the influence, combination of drugs and alcohol, and improper lane usage.

Man faces DUI charge
A man was charged with drunken driving after being pulled over at 4:45 a.m.  Aug. 14 in the 5200 block of Grand Avenue.

According to police, Michael M. Krygeris, 19, 5325 Blodgett Ave., Downers Grove also was charged with failure to use a turn signal.

DUI alleged
A man was charged with drunken driving after being pulled over by police at 5:45 a.m. Aug. 17 at 39th Street and Highland Avenue.

Police said Cirilo Contreras-Desiderio, 25,  of Lombard also was charged with improper lane usage and not having a valid driver’s license.

Woman faces DUI charge
A woman was charged with drunken driving after being pulled over at 1:45 a.m. Aug. 18 at Norfolk and Main streets.

Police said Lindsey R. Wisz, 26, 7324 Winthrop Way, Downers Grove was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Traffic stop yields arrest
A Hinsdale man was charged with drunken driving after being pulled over by police at 5:45 p.m. Aug. 19 at Ogden Avenue and Washington street.
Police said Daniel J. Getta, 23, also was charged with improper lane change.

Thefts reported at store
Two men were arrested in two separate incidents at Fry’s Electronics, 3300 Finley Road, in less than one day, according to police.

At 12:30 p.m. Aug. 16, police responded to the store Juan J. Leanos, 20, of Bolingbrook allegedly stole two memory cards worth $55.

According to the police report, Leanos was shopping when he removed the two cards from the packages and put them in his right pant pocket. Leanos was charged with retail theft.

Less than 24 hours later, Richard A. Hartmann, of Villa Park was arrested at about 10:30 a.m. for allegedly stealing seven CDs from the store, valued at $130.

According to police, Hartmann removed the CDs from their cases and put them in his right front pocket. He was charged with retail theft.

GPS stolen from car
An I-Pass transponder and a Garmin global positioning system unit, worth $130, were stolen out of a vehicle in the 7400 block of Pipers Way, police said.
The burglary occurred between Aug. 8 and 14. The car was undamaged and it is unknown whether the owner left the doors unlocked, according to the police report.

Passport stolen from car
An unlocked car was burglarized Aug. 14 at The Home Depot, 2000 Butterfield Road. According to police, a Russian passport and cash were removed from the car’s center storage area.

Mailbox reported stolen
A mailbox in the 800 block of Claremont Drive was stolen and found a block away on Clayton Court, according to police. The incident occurred the night of Aug. 14 or the early morning of Aug. 15.

Brick used to damage car
A car window was broken with a red brick in the 6900 block of Hillcrest Drive in the early morning hours of Aug. 15, according to police.

Police said a red paver brick was found  in the passenger floorboard and was used to break through the driver’s window.

Police suspect the brick came from the planters of a neighboring home where a brick was missing.

Westmont
Delivery man reports theft
Westmont police said a pizza delivery man reported five pizzas were stolen from his vehicle at about 12:15 a.m. Aug. 20 near the area of Burlington Avenue and Wilmette Street. The pizzas were valued at $60, police said.

Woman faces DUI charge
Jessica L. Seiwert, 30, of Villa Park was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about 11:45 p.m. Aug. 19 near Cass and Ogden avenues, police said.

Drug charges alleged
Ryan A. Golden, 25, of Chicago was charged with unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance,  unlawful possession of prescription forms and resisting a peace officer.
The incident occurred at about 4:45 p.m. Aug. 18 in the 0-100 block of W. 63rd Street, police said. Police said Golden allegedly obtained prescription medication without the authorization of a medical doctor.

Landscaping tools stolen
Police said two pieces of landscaping equipment, valued at $200, were stolen from a trailer overnight on Aug. 18 in the 900 block of South Williams Street.

GPS taken from car
Police said a global positioning system unit and cell phone, valued at $779, were reported taken overnight on Aug. 18 in the 100 block of North Grant Street. The car was unlocked at the time of the theft, police said.

Car burglarized at park
Police said a stereo, valued at $250, was reported taken form a car between 2 and 2:45 p.n. Aug. 15 from the parking lot of Ty Warner Park, at Blackhawk and Plaza drives. Police said the car was unlocked at the time of the theft.

Mailbox reported damaged
Police said a mailbox was damaged overnight Aug. 14 in the 500 block of Citadel Circle. Damage is estimated at $215, police said.

Woodridge
Bike taken from library
Police said a bicycle was reported taken between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Aug. 17 from the Woodridge Public Library, 3 Plaza Drive. No value of the bicycle was given by police.

Portable toilet damaged
Police said a portable toilet and a surrounding structure were damaged at about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at  Summerhill Park, Sundowner Road and Parkside Drive. No damage estimate was given.

Store theft reported
Police said a retail shop in the 7500 block of Janes Avenue was burglarized between 8 p.m. Aug. 13 and 9 a.m. Aug. 14. About $850 was removed. No indication was given how the building was entered.

Music players missing
Police said two MP3 music players, valued at $96, were reported taken form a store at about 1:15 p.m. Aug. 13 at an unnamed business in the 12000 block of 63rd Street.

CDs stolen from car
Police said four compact discs and an unknown amount of spare change were reported taken after a car was entered between 6 p.m. Aug. 11 and 8 a.m. Aug. 12 in the 3100 block of Andrea Court.

No value was given on the items, and police did not indicate how the car was entered or if it was unlocked at the time of the theft.
