Lisle, IL -

A suspicious piece of luggage found in a grocery store parking lot turned out to be a suitcase of clothes after the DuPage County Sheriff’s bomb squad was called in to investigate on Tuesday.

Lisle police were called to the Jewel Foods store, 1156 Maple Ave., after someone reported the suitcase being found in the middle of the parking lot about 9 a.m.

Police immediately blocked all access into the parking lot and required everyone inside the store to stay, Sgt. Ron Wilke said. The DuPage County Sheriff’s Hazardous Devices Unit was called in and determined the suitcase did not contain any explosive or hazardous material.

The parking lot was reopened and customers allowed to leave the store about 11 a.m., Wilke said.

Police believe the suitcase, which only contained clothing, may have been left in the parking lot Monday evening.
