Bolingbrook, IL -

Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora remains locked down as of 9:15 a.m. this morning for what school officials are calling a “safety measure.”

Attempts to reach school officials and the Aurora Police Department were unsuccessful, but a statement released on the school’s Web site by Principal Kristine Marchiando stated the following:

“As a precaution I have locked down the school this morning while the school administration and police investigate a potential threat. I want to stress the measure is a safety precaution and all of our students are safe. We will provide an update as soon as we have more information.”

No other details were provided.

Sgt. Greg Bell of the Naperville Police Department said officers from that department were dispatched to the high school, but deferred all comments to the Aurora Police Department.

The school is located at 2590 Odgen Ave., in Aurora, and serves students in Aurora and Naperville.
