The tale of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” will come alive in musical form when Children’s Theatre of Elgin presents “Willy Wonka Jr.” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 to 26, in The Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin.

The cast will be composed of 80 second- through ninth-graders from a dozen communities. Local members include Andrew Brhel of Bartlett; Claire Heronemus of Batavia; Kevin Kline of Huntley; and Alex Adams, Jessica Blakely, Emma Gulstine, Mallory Mroz, Arreyellen Salyards, Julia VanPetten and Katelyn VanPetten, all of St. Charles.

Director Jen Prise is creating animated graphics that will be projected at the rear of the set.
