Mamma mia! Streep and Brosnan singing – who would have believed it? Not many. And, after seeing the film, all the audience can say is “What a casting gamble!” But it works.

The big question after seeing "Hellboy II" is why did Columbia Pictures let the character go? More importantly, when you have a master writer/director like del Toro, why wouldn’t you sacrifice a huge box office (2004’s"Hellboy" didn’t do great business), or just OK box office, to work with him?

I expected to like “Be Kind, Rewind,” but not as much as I did — or in quite the same way. The previews promised a zany, trippy comedy starring Jack Black and Mos Def as a couple of video store guys, who when their VHS tapes get erased, create their own versions of “Ghostbusters,” “Rush Hour 2” and other Hollywood hits. But writer/director Michel Gondry, who directed one of the best films of the past decade with 2004’s “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” is aiming at a bigger target than mere laughs.
