Downers Grove South High School announces its 2007 Homecoming candidates.

Lauren Johnson, a graduate of Downers Grove South High School from Woodridge, has been awarded the Presidential Scholarship at Dominican University. The prestigious $12,000 Presidential Scholarship is awarded to students who rank in the top 10 percent of their high school class and have an ACT score of 28 or more. Lauren is majoring in education.

Kari Chesney of Woodridge and Simone Runyon of Naperville are two of only 29 new freshmen to be named a Presidential Scholar at Illinois State University. The highest award made to incoming students, a Presidential Scholarship provides $8,000 each year, totaling $32,000. Recipients study abroad one term, complete a 130-hour service learning project in a community setting, complete a special set of general education courses and fulfill Honors Program requirements.

Allison Quatrini, an international public affairs student at the University of Wisconsin - Madison from Downers Grove, has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship and will be studying in China for 14 months.
