Christine Ann Sands and Joshua Warren Hjorth were married Aug. 2, 2008, in Wautoma, Wis. The ceremony was presided over by the Rev. Ron Purser. The bride is the daughter of Doug and Aveok Sands of Elgin and Ron and Maggie Purser of Elgin. The groom is the son of Dr. Craig and Linda Hjorth of Glen Ellyn.
Christine chose Courtney Orlando as her maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Jill Acuff, Robyn Hjorth, Kelly Hjorth, Jessica Liszka, Brittany Kurt, Betsy Jackson and Rachel Garcia. Addie Dauel was the flower girl.
Joshua chose Jim West as his best man. The groomsmen were Rob Rodriguez, Erik Jensen, Mike Holland, Jim Brennan, Martyn Guimon, Jim Frykman and Dave Neil. Ryan Sands was the ringbearer.
The bride is a graduate of Larkin High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in arts of teaching from National Louis University. She is employed as a seventh-grade language arts teacher in Woodstock, Ill. The groom is a graduate of Glenbard West High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from National Louis University. He is employed as a special education teacher and a varsity football and wrestling coach at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Ill.
The couple traveled to Minocqua, Wis., during their honeymoon. They will live in Lake Villa, Ill.
