The Illinois State Police announced Tuesday that troopers will be conducting alcohol countermeasure enforcement patrols in conjunction with various high school proms throughout DuPage, Cook, Kane and Will counties throughout May.
Capt. John Jesernik said the patrols allow state police to target an area with “saturation patrols” that crack down on violations associated with consumption and/or transportation of alcohol and other drugs.
Troopers will also be conducting special traffic enforcement patrols during May. Using increased enforcement and public information to create awareness about traffic laws, these patrols concentrate on curbing speeding, seat belt violations and other driving offenses.
Both programs are funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
