St. Charles Kiwanis Club members are making it easy to give roses to the special people in your daily life with its annual “Rose Day” fundraiser.

Orders are being taking by Kiwanis members for bouquets of one dozen, long-stemmed roses with baby’s breath packaged in a cellophane bouquet-sheath. Just in time for Administrative Professional’s (Secretary’s) Day, rose pickup is Tuesday, April 21, between 7 a.m.  and 5 p.m. at Baker Community Center, 101 S. Second St., St. Charles. Roses cost $20 per dozen, with vases available for $3 each. One may phone in orders until April 1 or mail the form below by March 27.

Through contributions to this and other fundraisers, St. Charles Kiwanis Club has been able to award monetary grants to more than 30 organizations dealing with children in the Tri-Cities area. Agencies served include CASA Kane County, Fox Valley Hospice, Fox Valley Special Recreation Association, Girl Scouts – Fox Valley Council, Glenwood School, Lazarus House homeless shelter, Living Well Cancer Resources Center, Riverwoods Christian Center, The Salvation Army, Steele Beam Theatre, Three Fires Council Boy Scouts of America, Tri City Family Services and many others.

“Lazarus House has been very grateful for the support we’ve received from the St. Charles Noon Kiwanis; it has made a significant difference in the level of support we can offer our children and their families,” said Darlene Marcusson, executive director of Lazarus House.

Rose bouquet orders can be placed through any St. Charles Kiwanis Club, Golden K, or Key Club members or by calling (630) 584-1055. About 1,200 dozen rose bouquets have been pre-ordered and are available in a wide variety of colors. Donations should be made payable to St. Charles Kiwanis Foundation and must be submitted with orders.

Kiwanis is an organization of service- and community-minded individuals who support children and young adults around the world. One of the top priorities for the St. Charles Noon Club is “Young Children: Priority One.” The initiative places continuing focus on serving the needs of children in the Fox Valley, one community at a time. The club currently has more than 70 members and meets at noon every Tuesday in the National City Bank (formerly Mid-America Bank) building, 2600 E. Main St., St. Charles.
