Troop 575 Scouts and their families wish to thank the citizens who attended this year’s Memorial Day observance at Creekside Park in Winfield May 26. This was our 10th year starting the day with reverence for those who served our country with the ultimate sacrifice.
A Scout presents flowers to honor those killed in each of the wars while another Scout reads pertinent information on each war. Lastly, we honored those who have died in the current conflict with a wreath at the Veterans of Foreign Wars memorial site.
Veteran Army Capt. Edward P. Cunningham was our guest speaker that day. He is a volunteer at Cantigny and traveling spokesman about the military. He shared his story, then he asked us to listen to any solider’s story, including the families’ stories of sacrifice while their loved ones went off to serve our wonderful country.
We were also honored to have Matthew Jacobs (Marmion cadet) play his trumpet at this service as well. His performance was greatly appreciated by our attendees.
We also wish to thank Prosek’s Green-house for the lovely red geraniums donated each year for the our memorial display.
Please continue to show support and pray for military personnel. God bless America, home of the free and brave.
Marcia Roman, committee member, Troop 575, Winfield
