Graduates

• Local residents are among Aurora University students who completed graduation requirements in May. Graduates are Michele Leathers of Warrenville and Patricia Fagalde, Lorena Gonzalez, Shalisse Mathieu, Rebecca Petrie and Jennifer Wessman of West Chicago.

• Eastern Illinois University has announced the spring 2007 graduates. Graduates from Warrenville are Erin Atkinson, bachelor of science in education; and Timothy Sowa, bachelor of arts. Kael Rewers of West Chicago earned a bachelor of arts degree. Brittany Brown of Winfield earned a bachelor of arts degree.

Achievements

• U.S. Cellular has announced a local winner in its U.S. Cellular Scholarship Program, awarding a total of $15,000 in scholarships to students who are significant contributors to the community and also are a part of the U.S. Cellular family. Ruthhvik Basavaraj of West Chicago received $5,000 toward his undergraduate studies as a part of U.S. Cellular’s annual scholarship program open to the children of U.S. Cellular associates.

The scholarship program honors future leaders by identifying hard working students who demonstrate a commitment to the local community through volunteer work and outstanding achievement in academic studies. Basavaraj is the son of Bettaygowda and Bhanu Basavaraj and plans to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study chemical engineering.

• David Kleinwachter of Warrenville has been named to the Dean’s list for the May 2007 semester at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Kleinwachter is studying architecture. UWM is the second largest university in the state of Wisconsin, with more than 28,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
