Warrenville gears up for 17th annual bowlathon
sdj. rm Warrenville Youth and Family Services has more than 35 teams registered to bowl and raise funds in support of the community programs WYFS offers during a bowlathon from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Bowling Green Sports Center in West Chicago.
Warrenville Mayor David Brummel will throw out the ceremonial first ball and play on a team in support of WYFS.
Local businesses have donated more than 30 prizes, including White Sox tickets, Bulls tickets, overnight stays in area hotels, various restaurant gift certificates and jewelry. In addition, Family Foods will give away gift certificates to anyone who bowls a turkey.
People can still register a team, donate a raffle prize, sponsor a bowler or sign up for lane sponsorship. Lane sponsorships are available for $100 and includes a sign with the company name.

WYFS was founded in 1984 by Outreach Community Ministries with support from Warrenville churches, civic leaders and the United Way. The agency coordinates individual and family counseling, educational seminars, information referral services, Hispanic outreach, crisis intervention and the Quest youth program.
Detours on the Prairie Pathin Warrenville planned
In accordance with the DuPage County Trail System Improvement Plan, DuPage County will replace the pedestrian bridge that crosses over the west branch of the DuPage River at Butterfield Road (Route 56), just east of Batavia Road in Warrenville.
This is in addition to other improvements. This project is currently underway, with work going on in Wheaton. This project and accompanying detours should last about two months. During that time, trail users will have to utilize the detour routes.

District 94 boosters to welcome new principal
The Wildcat Booster Club of Community High School District 94 in West Chicago will welcome incoming principal Moses Cheng at its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, in Room 197 at Community High School, 326 Joliet St., West Chicago. The public is invited to attend. Enter the west side of the building at Entrance A.
The Wildcat Booster Club exists to promote unity, camaraderie and sportsmanship at Community High School.

Public can check up on Warrenville’s strategic plan
The city of Warrenville is collecting information to formulate a strategic plan. Residents and business owners provided feedback at a community meeting held Nov. 28. For those who could not attend, they were able to provide feedback by completing an online survey.

Strategic planning is a management tool used to help a city do a better job, ensuring that members are working toward the same goals and assessing and adjusting the city’s direction in response to a changing environment. The City Council is engaging in an effort to produce fundamental decisions and actions that shape what the city is, what it does, and why it does it, with a focus on the future.

Local DARE bowling fundraiser set for Feb. 24
The public is invited to help raise money for student anti-drug and alcohol education activities through a candlelight bowling fundraiser at 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Fox Bowl, 1101 Butterfield Road, Wheaton.
Tickets cost $30 each and can be purchased through Winfield DARE Officer Christine Cozzi at (630) 933-7187. The cost includes three games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza, soda and a chance to win a door prize. The event also includes a prize drawing.
The event benefits the Illinois Drug-Alcohol Resistance Education Officers Association Region 3.
Wheaton North hostsits spring musical
Wheaton North High School presents its spring musical “Once Upon A Mattress,” at 7 p.m. Thursday to Saturday March 8 to 10. All shows are in the school’s auditorium at 701 W. Thomas Road, Wheaton.

Village of Winfield creating a sign ordinance committee
Winfield’s Community Development Coordinator Carri Tullier is seeking a Winfield Chamber of Commerce member to serve on the newly created Sign Ordinance Committee. The group will meet once or twice a month for the next few months to discuss and make recommendations about all types of signage within the village.
The committee will be made up of two village trustees, a member of Main Street Winfield, a member of the Plan Commission, and a member of the chamber.
