WIllowbrook resident Virginia Braucher is a new millionaire thanks to a scratch off ticket from the Illinois Lottery.
A retired grandmother and casual lottery player, Braucher, 76, decided to buy a different ticket than her usual one. This time it paid off to the tune of $1 million.
“After stopping at the gas station one day, I decided at the spur of the moment to buy two instant tickets,” said Braucher. “When I saw that I won on the second one, I just kept staring at the ticket because I just couldn’t believe I won.”
Braucher said she plans on remodeling her kitchen and buying her disabled husband a more comfortable vehicle.
“My son Steve also plays the lottery, and he always told me that we were going to win big,” said Braucher. “You just never know. This can happen to anyone.”
