Humane Society to participate in emergency pereparedness expo

The Hinsdale Humane Society is participating in the upcoming McCormick Tribune Foundation’s Emergency Preparedness Expo from 10 a.m until 4 p.m. on Sept. 13 and 14 at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton.

The expo is a county wide collaborative effort designed with displays and demonstrations on the subject of disaster preparedness. Other participants include the Red Cross, Central DuPage Hospital, the Boy Scouts and the local fire departments.

The Hinsdale Humane Society has been invited to participate and educate the public on disaster preparedness for your pet. HHS will distribute a variety of informational brochures, literature, pet emergency cards, goody bags and pet treats. In addition, a “Create Your Own” pet emergency supply kit will be on display complements of Pet Supplies Plus, Westmont. The customized kit allows you to put together an emergency kit for your pet using products and items of your choice.

Additional events at the Emergency Preparedness weekend include: Bloodmobile, triage services, fire safety, car seat safety, certified emergency response training children’s activities, and more. The first 500 families to arrive each day will receive a free starter emergency kit.
