The Rotary Club of Hinsdale honored Clarendon Hills resident Erica Arnold for her accomplishment in Rotary District level competition. Erica’s essay on the Four Way Test took third place honors in the Rotary District 6450 contest.
District 6450 Governor Mike Slevnik and Hinsdale Rotary President Roger Herring presented a check to Erica at the Aug. 29 meeting at The Oaks in Burr Ridge.
Erica’s essay was entered in the Fourth Annual Four-Way Test Essay Contest hosted by the Rotary Club of Hinsdale in March when she was in eighth-grade at Clarendon Hills Middle School. The contest asked the students to apply the tenets of Rotary’s Four-Way Test to their lives. Erica and five other Community Consolidated School District 181 middle school students were honored at the Hinsdale Rotary Club meeting in April for their first, second and third place essays. Judges then selected Erica’s essay, the first-place winner from CHMS, to represent the club in the next level of competition.
One of the goals of the essay contest was to promote good citizenship. Competition was open to all District 181 middle school students.
