Adventist Hinsdale Hospital will conduct a free seminar on strokes — Time Loss is Brain Loss — from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 30 at The Community House, 415 W. Eighth St., Hinsdale.
A full slate of unique vehicles, bands and individuals representing local organizations, animals and floats — more than 60 entries — are scheduled to participate in Hinsdale’s Fourth of July Parade, which kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4 at Garfield Avenue and Sixth Street.
Wheaton is one of the last places I’d expect to find anyone who doesn’t believe in God. Yet the city hosts a group called the Wheaton Atheists. Who knew? Meanwhile, there are the Fox Valley Atheists in Batavia, the Freethought Conversants in Glen Ellyn, and even the Non-Alcoholic Atheists in Lombard.
Red, white and blue. Together, in our nation’s flag, they stand as a symbol of freedom. But their presence is much deeper. These colors are ingrained in our culture, whether we notice them or not — from signs marking interstate highways to Popsicles shaped like rockets.
