The Wheaton Police Department is creating a database of individuals with special needs, in conjunction with the emergency communications center DuComm.
The database will be secured in a computer-aided dispatch database and maintained by the police department.
The program depends on individuals, family or caregivers to voluntarily give police information to be included. The database is free of charge.
The program gives emergency personnel additional information to better serve individuals who have special needs.
