The largest space the Danada Veterinary Hospital had previously occupied was 4,000 square feet, but that all changed in September, when the growing hospital moved into its new 12,700-square-foot facility.
“By having our own building (and) parking lot, we’re able to give the clients a chance to not have to worry about finding a parking space (and) maneuver their pet between cars,” said Dr. Helen Dane, owner of the hospital.
The new building, at 10 West Loop Road in Wheaton, is the result of three years of planning. Construction began last year in November.
Medical area:
With the new building came the ability to expand the hospital’s treatment center. The medical area has a dental unit, a surgery suite, a procedures room, an intensive care unit, and a laboratory and X-ray area. Dane said the area is set up to make treatments less stressful for pets.
Reception room:
The reception room was created to be more comfortable for owners who are waiting for their pets. Dane said it is larger than the hospital’s previous reception rooms.
Design:
Dane said the design allows for the traffic flow through the hospital to move more easily, and saves staff from having to work on top of each other. The hospital also has epoxy floors, which stay sanitary and are easier for pets to walk on.
