Fermilab International Folk Dancing will a workshop by Joe Kaloyanides Graziosi, a widely known expert on dances of Greece, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in the Kuhn Village Barn at Fermilab, Batavia.

He will teach dances for all levels and newcomers are welcome.

Graziosi was raised in a Greek-American community in Boston. His roots derive, on his mother’s side, from Eastern Thrace. He received a degree in Eastern history from Brandeis University. In 1975, he conducted dance research in villages in Greece with noted folklorist Ted Petrides. Since that time, he has done extensive independent research in folk music and dance in Greece, the former Greek areas of the Anatolian Peninsula, and the Greek-American communities in New England and New York. He has compiled an exhaustive library of scholarly research, as well as a comprehensive video library and musical archive.

From 1983 to 1989, he was co-founder and instructor and dancer for the Greek-American Folklore Society in Astoria, N.Y. Since 1984, he has taught traditional folk and urban dances of the Greek peoples for organizations throughout the United States, Canada and overseas.

Suggested donation for the workshop is $8 for adults, $4 for students. More information is offered at (630) 584-0825; (630) 840-8194; folkdance@fnal.gov; or www.fnal.gov/orgs/folkdance. Directions to Kuhn Village Barn are at www.fnal.gov/orgs/folkclub/barn.html.
