Members of the Illinois State Board of Education's Finance and
Audit Committee will hold a budget hearing for the fiscal year 2010 budget on
Wednesday at Briar Glen Elementary School in Wheaton.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Briar Glen Library
Media Center and visitors wishing to participate in the hearings will need to
sign in upon their arrival. Individuals wishing to provide testimony at the budget
hearing should provide 15 copies of their written statements, and those
wishing to discuss a specific educational program should be prepared to provide
cost estimates, including a detailed budget, for any program being discussed.
Individuals speaking should also be sure to address how proposed programs relate to
the ISBE's Strategic Plan Goals, which are:

• Every student will demonstrate academic achievement and be prepared for
success after high school.

• Every student will be supported by highly prepared and effective
teachers and school leaders

• Every school will offer a safe and healthy learning environment for all
students.

The Briar Glen Elementary School meeting is the last of seven budget hearings that have
been held throughout Illinois since mid-September.  Briar Glen is
located at 1800 Briarcliffe Blvd.
