Attorney found guilty of DUI

Wheaton, IL -

A DuPage County jury has found Timothy Winfield, 43, of 5154 Atwater Court, Lisle, guilty of two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol involving great bodily harm, a Class 4 felony.

On Nov. 19, 2005, Winfield, who is an attorney, was traveling on Butterfield Road in Wheaton when he ran a red light and crashed into a van driven by an 18-year-old woman. According to the DuPage County State's Attorney's office, the crash pushed the van about 100 feet off the road and caused serious injury to the woman.

After an investigation, the Wheaton Police Department filed charges against Winfield on Jan. 21, 2006.

According to the state's attorney's office, the woman has fully recovered from her injuries.

Winfield faces up to twelve years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Winfield's next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 9.
