Westmont resident Jim Addington, a 41-year member of the Westmont lions Club, was elected earlier this month by the Lions Clubs of District 1 J as their Regional Governor for the upcoming year.
Addington will be sworn in and take office at the Lions International Convention in Seattle, Washington the first week in July and will serve for one year.
District 1 J has almost 3,000 Lions in 86 Lions, Lioness and Leo clubs in an area that covers all of DuPage and Kane Counties as well as a portion of DeKalb and McHenry counties.
Illinois is divided into 12 districts, each with their own governor. The 12 district governors head the 18,000 Lions in Illinois. Illinois is the birthplace of the International Association of Lions Clubs, which today has a worldwide membership of 1,350,000 Lions.
Addington has lived in Westmont for more than 40 years and has spent more than 20 years in public service, including one term as Westmont Mayor.
