The Westmont Village Board is expected to decide tonight to allow a local resident to hold the popular Angel Haven Foundation at a local church this month.
The item is listed on the agenda for the Westmont Village Board meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Westmont Village Hall, 31 W. Quincy St.
If approved, the sale would be held July 16 through 19 at West Hills Community Church, 213 E. 55 St.
The action comes after the board last month decided not to grant a permit to Westmont resident Barbara Roos, who had asked to hold the four day yard sale at her home. The board said that the popular Angel Haven sale has now drawn to many people to be held in a residential area, and that nearby residents had complained about the traffic and noise from the event, and had suggested holding the event at a commercial site.
The Angel Haven Foundation sale provides donated items and furniture for local residents, with the funds from the sale being used to support families in the Appalachian Mountains.
Roos, who has held the sale at her home for the past several years, said the future of the event may be in jeopardy after this year, as she said it is to big of hardship for her and volunteers to move hundreds of items to a different location for the sale.
