Chandler commits to Illinois football

Downers Grove South quarterback Chandler Whitmer plans to play at Illinois in 2010 after leading the Mustangs for a third season this fall.

Downers Grove South quarterback Chandler Whitmer gave his oral commitment earlier this week to attend the University of Illinois in 2010, according to edgytim.rivals.com.
In his second year as the Mustangs' starting signal caller last fall, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound junior threw for 13 touchdowns and more than 1,400 yards. The Mustangs are 16-4 with Whitmer under center, including to undefeated runs in the West Suburban Gold. Both seasons, however, ended in the first round of the playoffs.
