The Westmont Park District will travel back in time this Friday, June 19, with a sock hop dance and a drive-in movie to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The events will be held beginning at 7 p.m. at the gazebo at Ty Warner, Blackhawk and Plaza drives.
Participants are encouraged to dress like it is 1959, with poodle skirts, white T-shirts and jeans to dance the night away to the best tunes from the 1950’s.
The Park District also is showing the movie “Back to the Future” on a big screen beginning at 8:30 p.m.. The movie will be free and can be broadcast through your car stereo, or patrons can pack a blanket and watch the flick from the lawn. Visitors can also check out some DeLorean cars that will be on display in the park.
