The second Fireball Run Transcontinental Road Rally, also known as the Race to Recover America’s Missing Children, made its way through Westmont Oct. 2.
More than 65 teams comprised of CEOs and community leaders drove cars as part of the event, which organizer J. Sanchez called “the transcontinental adventure of a lifetime.”
The teams embarked on the journey Sept. 25, from Baton Rouge, La. and zigzagged 3,500 miles throughout the U.S. before finishing in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Oct. 4. Westmont was the second-to-last stop.
Along the way, each team was assigned a missing child whose image and information were affixed to the vehicle, creating a “rolling milk carton.” The teams’ mission was to place as many “recovery” posters as possible along the way.
So far, last year’s Fireball Run has helped reunite 20 missing children with their families, Sanchez said.
