The Westmont Fire Department will host an open house tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in honor of Fire Prevention Week.
Activities will include visits by “Sparky” the Fire Dog and “Freddie” the Fire Engine, Children’s Fire Safety House presentations, slide pole demonstrations and several other activities. A live room burn demonstration will be held at 7:30 p.m.
The open house is being held at the headquarters station, 6015 S. Cass Ave.
Fire Prevention week will conclude with the 14th annual Firefighter Silent Parade at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10. A memorial service will follow at the end of the parade at 7:45 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1101 Kimberly Way, in Lisle.
